Why You Still Need Sunscreen in Monsoon and on Cloudy Days

Monsoon weather can make sunscreen easy to forget. The sky is covered with clouds, the sun is hardly visible, and there is usually a nice coolness in the air. It does not feel like the kind of weather that can affect the skin. On a hot summer day, sunscreen feels obvious. On a rainy afternoon, not so much.

But UV rays are still around.

That is the part that gets missed. The weather can look completely different, but the skin still gets exposed to UV rays. Maybe it happens during the morning commute. Maybe it is a short walk after the rain stops. Sometimes it is just sitting near a window for a few hours.

None of these things feels like much at the time.

Clouds Hide the Sun, Not UV Rays

Clouds can make the sunlight look weaker, but they do not block all UV rays. UVA rays can still reach the skin when the sky is overcast.

And UVA exposure is a little tricky because there may be no immediate sign of it. The skin does not necessarily feel hot or start burning. So there is nothing to remind you that the face is still getting exposed.

This is one reason cloudy days can be deceptive.

A person may leave home thinking, “There is hardly any sun today,” and spend a few hours outside. The same thing happens the next day and then again the day after. That regular exposure can contribute to tanning, pigmentation and premature ageing over time. The grey sky does not really change that.

Why Monsoon Skin Can Still Get Tanned

There is a common idea that tanning is mostly a summer problem. It is not.

Think about an ordinary monsoon day. There is a little rain in the morning, then it stops. You go out to work, run an errand or take a short walk. Later, the clouds come back. None of it feels particularly sunny.

Still, the skin has been exposed. Wet roads and other surfaces can also reflect sunlight. So even when direct sunshine is not hitting the face strongly, reflected UV can reach the skin.

That can be why tanning sometimes seems to appear without any obvious reason. It is not always one long day in the sun. Small amounts of exposure, repeated regularly, can matter too.

The Sun Does Not Completely Stop at the Window

Staying locked up indoors all day long might be thought to be sufficient reason not to use sunscreen. However, there is one little drawback.

The UVA rays can go through the glass. Thus, if your work desk is situated close to a window or you spend most of your time driving during the day, some exposure to the sun might be inevitable.

Surely, this does not imply that now being at home suddenly becomes hazardous. This is just one more of those everyday aspects that tend to be forgotten.

Most modern sunscreens provide a broader spectrum of protection than just UV rays; protection from blue light and environmental pollution of the environment is included too. Therefore, using sunscreen is not an alien concept for a daily routine that doesn't include a lot of time outside.

Here, at Prismos Beauty, we consider sunscreen to be a daily product rather than something that should come into play with the onset of summer.

A Heavy Sunscreen Can Be Hard to Live With in Monsoon

There is also the comfort issue. Monsoon weather can already make the skin feel sweaty and sticky. Add a thick layer of sunscreen on top and the whole thing can feel like too much.

That is often when people stop using it. It is not necessarily because they do not care about sun protection. The product simply does not feel pleasant enough to use every morning.

This is where choosing the best sunscreen for the face becomes a little more personal. A sunscreen needs to protect the skin, but it should also feel comfortable enough to become part of the routine.

A lightweight formula usually makes more sense for humid weather. If it absorbs quickly and does not leave the face greasy, there is a better chance it will actually be used every day.

And honestly, consistency matters more than having a product that looks impressive sitting in the bathroom cabinet.

When Should Sunscreen Be Reapplied?

Putting sunscreen on once in the morning is a good habit. But that may not be enough if the day involves a lot of sweating, rain or several hours outdoors. Humidity can make the face sweaty, and wiping the face can remove some of the product too.

So if you have been outside for a long time, reapplying is worth considering. The same goes if you get caught in the rain. Once the sunscreen has been washed or rubbed away, putting it back on makes sense.

There is no need to make this unnecessarily complicated. Apply it in the morning, and if the day demands more protection, reapply when needed.

Sunscreen Is Not Just for One Kind of Skin

Sunscreen choices can vary quite a lot. Oily skin may not enjoy a rich, heavy formula. Someone with dry skin may want something that does not leave the face feeling tight. Sensitive skin can also have its own preferences.

So the best sunscreen for women in India is not automatically one particular formula for everyone. The hot and humid climate, along with individual skin type and routine, makes comfort fairly important.

The same applies to men. The best sunscreen for men is not really about choosing something labelled for men. It is about finding a sunscreen that feels good on the skin and is easy to keep using. There is also no reason to think darker skin tones do not need sunscreen.

Tanning, pigmentation and sun damage can affect all skin tones. Sun protection is simply part of looking after the skin, whatever its natural colour.

Everyday Protection With Prismos Beauty

At Prismos Beauty, we wanted sunscreen to be something that fits into a normal day without making skincare feel heavier than it needs to be. Our SPF 30 PA+++ Nano Gel Sunscreen provides broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection. It also helps protect the skin against blue light and environmental pollutants.

The texture is a lightweight nano gel, so it absorbs quickly and gives a matte finish. There is no white cast or greasy feeling, which can be particularly useful when the weather is humid. It is suitable for all skin types and can be used whether you are staying indoors, going to work, travelling or spending time outside. The sunscreen is also non-comedogenic and free from parabens, sulfates and synthetic fragrances.

That is broadly what Prismos Beauty tries to keep at the centre of its products. Skincare has to work in real life. It cannot be something that sounds good but becomes uncomfortable after a few uses.

After years of research and development, Prismos Beauty has created skincare, haircare and body care products with everyday use in mind. More than 500,000 customers trust the brand, with authenticity, transparency and quality being important parts of what the brand stands for.

A Cloudy Day Is Still a Day for Sunscreen

Monsoon changes how the sun feels. That is probably the main reason sunscreen gets forgotten. When there is no strong heat and the sky is grey, it simply does not feel necessary.

But the skin does not work according to how bright the day looks. UV rays can still reach the skin through clouds. Some exposure can happen through windows. And those little outdoor moments after the rain can add up too.

The best quality sunscreen is therefore not necessarily the one that feels the most complicated or expensive. It is the one that offers protection and feels comfortable enough to use regularly. The best sunscreen for the face and body should fit into everyday life. On a sunny day, obviously. But also on cloudy, rainy days when sunscreen is probably the easiest thing to forget.
